What is Copywriting?  |  Uses for Copywriting

What is Copywriting? How is that different from Copyrighting?

People frequently mistake Copywriting for Copyrighting.  The two are quite different.

Copywriting

Copywriting is the act of crafting and writing text to communicate information, and promote, persuade, or sell a product or service.  With most copywriting, the client assumes ownership and all rights to the work once payment is made in full.

Read below to learn how this definition differs from copyrighting.

Copyrighting

Copyrighting establishes an author's legal right to publish for a specified period of time.  With a copyright, the author retains rights to the artistic work during the specific period.
